Chancellor Republic of Austria
Karl Nehammer was born in Vienna on October 18, 1972. During his school years, he first attended the Kollegium Kalksburg and later the Gymnasium Amerlingstraße, where he graduated in 1992. After his one-year voluntary military service, he completed the communication and trainer training and then graduated from the university course Political Communication in 2014.
After various political functions, including as provincial chairman and later secretary general of the ÖAAB, as a member of the National Council and secretary general of the new People's Party, Karl Nehammer took office as Federal Minister of the Interior in 2020. In December 2021, he was elected executive federal party chairman of the ÖVP. Karl Nehammer has been Federal Chancellor of the Republic since December 6, 2021.
