Growth was yesterday - are we now regressing?

Economic growth increases prosperity for all. Political action has so far been based on this narrative. However, growth has come at the price of increasing energy consumption, high exploitation of natural resources and global inequality. The EU is focusing on green growth to tackle climate change and wants to stop the depletion of resources with technology and efficiency improvements. This is opposed by the degrowth movement, which is calling for a rethink and a conscious slowdown of the economy. Can we really only save the planet by reducing our consumption of raw materials and our consumption? Halliki Kreinin, researcher at the Institute for Sustainability Helmholtz Center Potsdam (RIFS), Elisabeth Zehetner-Piewald, CEO of oecolution, Ulrich Brand, Professor of International Politics at the University of Vienna, Barbara Schmidt, Secretary General of Oesterreichs Energi, and entrepreneur Hikmet Ersek discuss this topic.
